Many companies allow university students use of their products free of use. Note that some of the licences of the products listed below may only be for educational purposes.
There’s no substitute for hands-on experience, but for most students, real world tools can be cost prohibitive. That’s why we created the GitHub Student Developer Pack with some of our partners and friends: to give students free access to the best developer tools in one place so they can learn by doing.
Free Microsoft Office 365 provided through Dreamspark free for Ryerson Students.
In addition to Office 365 provided in the link above, you are also given access to other Microsoft developer tools through the Microsoft Imagine program. Note, you must use your @scs.ryerson.ca department email address in order to register for this. Visit the email page for information on accessing that, as well as setting up fowarding rules for it.
Free VMWare virtualization products provided through Dreamspark for Ryerson Students.
Full Jetbrains library of IDE’s provided free to students. Requires yearly subscription renewal.
Free infrastructure as a service (IaaS) for students provided free by Microsoft.
Not exactly a student program, but Google Platform has a free tier, and $300 in starting credits for all users.
The $300 in account starting credits are only valid for 12 months.
